New ACR PLB Features Digital Display
Boating offshore has just become a whole lot safer with the release of the very latest in Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) technology from ACR. The ACR AquaLink View is a fully featured PLB that comes standard with a digital display screen.
Continuing on from the success of the ACR 406MHz iPRO EPIRB’s, the digital display breakthrough has been introduced to the PLB market segment, adding a new level of assurance and instant information. The ACR PLB is marketed in Australia by RFD and is available through a network of quality marine retailers and chandleries.
The fully approved ACR AquaLink View provides three levels of integrated emergency signal technology - GPS positioning, a powerful 406 MHz satellite detectable signal and 121.5 MHz homing capability. When activated, the ACR AquaLink View quickly and accurately relays your position via the dedicated emergency COSPAS-SARSAT satellite detection system.
The AquaLink View broadcasts a unique registered distress signal that not only tells rescuers where you are, but who you are. The onboard GPS can fix your location to within 100 meters and a powerful integrated LED strobe light can guide rescuers to your exact location.
An appealing aspect of the new PLB from ACR is the digital display that allows you to see all of the beacon’s operational activities.
When activated, the digital display provides the user with reassuring tips on optimizing the use of the beacon and provides the following functionality during activation...
> It informs the user that the beacon is working
> It informs the user of his/her GPS coordinates
> It informs the user of remaining battery power
> It reinforces to the user the correct deployment of an activated beacon with messages such as “Leave beacon on until ResQ” and “Do not hold antenna.”
The digital display is housed inside the unit and cannot be touched, bumped, pierced or otherwise damaged by an external force unless the entire PLB is destroyed.
The rugged, one-button activated, emergency signalling device also is light at just 252g and comes with a super bright LED strobe light.
The unit is small enough and light enough to be easily carried in a pack or pocket. It can be worn on deck, at the helm or on a life vest and will float if accidentally dropped overboard.
The battery replacement interval is six years from the date or manufacture. Following emergency use, the battery must be replaced as a matter of routine.
