RFD Relocates To Expansive Brisbane Facility
Protection Plus

The marine division of RFD Australia has relocated its Queensland branch office to larger premises in the Brisbane suburb of Slacks Creek.

After being situated for 10 years in nearby Aranda St, the need for more space determined that larger premises be acquired.  Fuelled by growth, the new premises at Randall St Slacks Creek is the third property that RFD has occupied since 1990, with each shift involving progressively larger premises.

According the RFD Managing Director Mark Barker, the level of business in Queensland experienced by RFD’s marine division, has been nothing short of exceptional.

“The growth in our business in the Queensland market has driven us to a property where we have more space to carry stock, service our RFD life rafts and house our administration function”, Mark Barker said.

The combined warehouse office complex has a total area of 980 sq meters.  A total of eight people are employed on site.  In addition there is ample on site car parking and a delivery area to the lofty warehouse.  Beyond supporting the entire Queensland market, the Brisbane office services the Northern Territory and Pacific regions.

“The new warehouse allows us to take direct delivery of 40’ containers full of Aqua Pro boats.  While the majority come in complete, there are some larger models such as the Raider and Monaco require assembly before shipping off to dealers.”

The life raft service operation is an important part of RFD’s business and requires plenty of open space.  This is not a process that can be rushed nor performed in a cramped corner of a building.

“With our new facility we can now better service our customer base by carrying more stock in the Brisbane warehouse, more efficient servicing of our rafts and testing new boat deliveries,” Mark Barker said.

RFD is a world leading supplier of marine safety products and inflatable watercraft marketed under a range of brand names.  Some of these brands include Aquapro inflatable boats, Plastimo boating equipment, ACR electronics and Aquaglide water sport products.

Beginning in 1920, RFD is primarily involved in the supply and service of marine, fire, life support and gas control equipment.
