New 406MHz GlobalFix iPro EPIRB Features Easy Digital Display
Protection Plus

Marine safety product specialist RFD has introduced a new generation 406 MHz EPIRB onto the Australian market that features a world-first Digital Display Screen and Dual GPS Technology. The new GlobalFix iPro EPIRB is a breakthrough safety beacon that provides a suite of critical operating information to the user and improves GPS data transfer for improved rescue response times.

A key feature of the new 406 MHz GlobalFix iPro EPIRB is the Digital Display Screen that allows the user to view all of the beacon’s operational activities. The Digital Display Screen displays GPS latitude and longitude coordinates- useful if other communication lines are open to rescuers- plus providing usage tips, transmission bursts and battery levels.

The 406MHz GlobalFix iPro EPIRB has also made activating and self-testing a straightforward exercise with the digital display informing the user that the beacon is working and offering step by step instructions to correctly activate. No longer having to rely on flashing LED’s and beep noises, users can follow easy display instructions and safely test the GlobalFix iPro without worrying about activating the unit by mistake. The iPro can also inform the user of when it is time to be serviced.

The new GlobalFix iPro EPIRB is also the first EPIRB that offers Dual GPS Technology. This feature allows the user to interface the iPro GPS with an onboard GPS unit to ensure ongoing LAT/LONG coordinates are updated into the iPro and transmitted in the first data burst following activation.

“Australia has not yet seen an EPIRB unit with this level of sophistication,” said RFD Managing Director, Mark Barker.

“The new GlobalFix iPro takes the guesswork out of operation with an easy to read display screen and is unrivalled in GPS capabilities. The iPro is so easy to use and has arrived just in time as the Australian market switches to the new 406 MHz.EPIRB regulations in February 2009.”

The GlobalFix iPro also has a suite of other advantages including the highly visible LED strobe, robust and efficient electronics to withstand the marine environment and a professionally engineered design for durability and functionality. Furthermore, the Digital Display Screen has been integrated into the unit so it cannot be touched, bumped, pierced or otherwise damaged by external force unless the entire EPIRB is destroyed.
