Under the watchful eye of renowned marine retail and service manager Ray Leigh and son Steven, Sugar City Marine welcomes CruiseCraft to a strong boating market built around the picturesque waters of Mackay.
CruiseCraft and Sugar City Marine both share the advantage that decades of Australian marine experience can create for marine retail success. Beginning his career back in 1965, Ray Leigh paved a strong career as an outboard mechanic working at Fields Marine until 1985.
Following a corporate company sell-off, Ray Leigh decided to purchase Fields Marine from the vendors and created Sugar City Marine as a one-stop boating shop for North Queensland’s thriving boat community. When it came time to look for another boat brand for his business, Ray Leigh found it hard to go past the quality and rich history of the CruiseCraft name.
“I took the trip down to this year’s Brisbane boat show to have a look around,” said Ray Leigh.
“From the outset, I was impressed with the quality of the CruiseCraft boats on display and believed the entire range would suit Mackay’s boating market.
CruiseCraft has been around since the year dot with strong family ties behind the business which is something I value at Sugar City Marine.”
Situated approximately 400km north of Rockhampton, Mackay offers family and fishing boaters a huge array of destinations including passage directly east to the Great Barrier Reef, a sojourn around Cumberland Islands or rugged exploration throughout the local estuaries. Sugar City Marine has capitalised on their prime boating location to offer quality boating options, technical assistance and local knowledge to satisfied customers.
Complementing their current range of quality aluminium boats and Mercury outboards, the new line-up of CruiseCraft models at Sugar City Marine will offer local boating enthusiasts some of the best performing fibreglass family fishing boats in Australia. From the versatile Outsider series to the award winning Explorer models and sporty Resort bowriders, the CruiseCraft range has all boating bases covered.
“We aim to promote the entire range of CruiseCraft boats to our customers,” said Ray Leigh.
“The people behind the CruiseCraft brand are brilliant and straight down the line when doing business. The quality, finish and setup of the boats is second to none and I have no doubt CruiseCraft will be successful for us, especially with a Mercury on the back.”
CruiseCraft is a wholly family owned, third generation Australian boat manufacturing business, operating from their Brisbane manufacturing facility. CruiseCraft boats are distributed exclusively through a network of authorised Dealers throughout Australia and selected international markets.
