Mid Coast Cranes has welcomed a new Tadano ATF 110G-5 all terrain crane to their crane hire business on the northern coast of New South Wales. Based in Port Macquarie, Mid Coast Cranes is a general crane wet-hire business and has big plans for their recent Tadano addition.

The 110 tonne lifting powerhouse from Tadano has already cut its teeth on local construction works and is expected to serve on several high profile telecommunications and civil engineering projects. When asked why he chose the Tadano ATF crane over other brands, Mid Coast Cranes’ Director Mike Dunn had a clear answer.

“The quality of the Tadano brand and the crane’s availability won me over,” said Mike.

“We have used Liebherr, Kato, Franna and Tadano cranes in the past. The quality of the Japanese-built Tadano ATF is hard to overlook.”

The Mid Coast Cranes team first dealt with James Equipment through a local Tadano spare parts agent and has been more than satisfied with their service. After experiencing solid performance from their first Tadano, it was a relatively straightforward process in securing their second.

The Tadano ATF 110G-5 brings together the best of Japanese engineering with the versatility of all-terrain crane technology. The 5 axle carrier houses 4-point, double telescopic hydraulic outriggers, a two stage Steyr transfer case and the renowned ZF-AS-Tronic mechanical transmission with automatic gear shifting through 16 forward, and 2 reverse gears.

Powering the carrier is a Mercedes Benz 8 cylinder water cooled diesel pumping out 380kW and 2400Nm of torque at 1200rpm. Suspension is hydro-pneumatic, brakes are via a dual circuit compressed air system while steering the 5 axles is through a ZF-Servocom, dual circuit hydraulic system with emergency steering pump.

The Tadano ATF 110G-5 is capable of lifting 110 tonnes via the torsion resistant steel superstructure powered by a Mercedes Benz 4 cylinder diesel. The 129kW engine powers the three circuit hydraulic system that controls the 5-section telescopic boom. Boom extends from 12.8m to 52.0m supported by hydraulically controlled 8.7/11t divisible counterweights.

“So far the crane’s performance has been very good,” said Mike.

“We expect this Tadano all-terrain to clock up many hours over the next few years as we embark on supporting major government infrastructure upgrades. The James Equipment team were great to deal with.”

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry with locations right across Australia, James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
