Tadano Landmark GT550EX Goes To Kalgoorlie

In a stunning landmark achievement, the 100th Tadano GT-550EX model crane sold by James Equipment has been delivered to Rick Musarra of Goldfields Crane Hire in Kalgoorlie.

Fittingly this is the fifth Tadano GT-550EX purchased by Goldfields Crane Hire and there are more on order and pending delivery!

James Equipment sold their first GT-550EX model in 2004 when the company was appointed as the sole Australian distributor.  If sales figures are any guide, this Tadano model has been enthusiastically embraced by the Australian market.

“Crane companies and industrial operators the length and breadth of Australia have purchased the GT-550EX,” said Peter Shelton, Group General Manager of James Equipment.

“This model from Tadano is quite an exceptional model due to its universal appeal.   And there seems to be no let up in demand as we sourcing as many of these cranes as we can get from the Tadano factory in Japan.”

Rick Musarra, who now has five of the Tadano GT-550EX, has a fleet of 27 cranes at Goldfields Crane Hire in Kalgoorlie.

“I have kept buying these Tadano cranes as they are a perfect crane for our needs,” Rick Musarra said.  “My crane drivers like to work with the GT-550EX because they are modern, reliable and right up to date with all the best on board computer gear.”

“We keep a close watch on competitive products but nothing comes close to the GT-550EX.   It has superior lifting capacities and I particularly like the fact that the carrier is built in Japan by Tadano themselves, and not sourced from China like some competitive brands.”

Based in Kalgoorlie, Goldfields Crane Hire began with Rick Musarra back in 1998 serving the local mining industry on maintenance projects. Today, major mining maintenance contracts have spurred outstanding capital growth for Goldfields Crane Hire who now have 27 cranes in the fleet and were recently awarded local Business of the Year and State Small Business awards.

The reliability and performance of their first Tadano crane has fuelled a strong commitment to the brand and made future purchase decisions very easy as Goldfields Crane Hire continues to meet local industry demands.

Rick Musarra’s first crane was a second-hand 25 tonne Tadano model, acquired in 1994. Over the intervening years Rick has added a staggering number of new Tadano models to the ever expanding fleet, including the GR-700EX, TG-500E and of course the GT-550EX.

“Right now I have another 6 Tadano cranes on order, ranging from a 65 tonne model through to a 160 tonne crane,” Rick Musarra said.

The Tadano GT-550EX features reliable Japanese engineering, a 5-stage 42m main boom with 14.6m fly jib, Tadano’s own 4 axle carrier with Euro 2 compliant 6 cylinder turbo diesel engine and a top road speed of 83 kph. The GT-550EX is an operators dream with joystick operated upper cabin, 8 stage gearbox and air conditioned comfort.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry with locations right across Australia, James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, Grove and Kobelco.
