The newest addition to the Wollongong Cranes hire fleet, the 65 tonne Tadano ATF has hit the ground running as its new owners continue to provide lifting solutions throughout the Illawarra region in NSW.
Wollongong Cranes offers a fleet of mobile cranes for hire including Rough Terrain, Franna, Truck, Tower and All-Terrain cranes. Holding a strong commitment to quality and reliability, Owner and Manager Peter Sergi has witnessed strong growth in his crane business since beginning in 1982 and sees an expansion in his fleet the best solution to meet his clients lifting needs- which included the purchase of Camtrac Cranes located at Narellan and Mossvale.
“The Tadano brand has been a very reliable crane for our fleet over the past few years,” said Peter Sergi.
“The ATF 65G-4 has a very good lifting capacity in its class and James Equipment had one available for us when we needed it. Our new Tadano has been placed in our crane rental fleet and so far its performance has been great. We are very happy with it.”
Wollongong Cranes has relied on a wide range of crane brands over the years including Grove, Liebherr, Franna and Demag. Having dealt with James Equipment for years, it was a straightforward process in securing a new All-Terrain Tadano for their ever expanding fleet.
“We have known the James Equipment team for a long time having bought other cranes from them in the past,” said Peter Sergi.
“We have also been using their spare parts service for many years and been very satisfied with their service. Our new Tadano ATF 65G-4 will be kept busy with general crane hire around Wollongong and the Southern Sydney area.”
Tadano’s ATF 65G-4 is now finding strong favour with crane operators around Australia with the versatile 65 tonne machine offering an impressive lift chart and superior Japanese crane engineering. The torsion-resistant, fine-grained steel carrier is powered by a 290kW Mercedes Benz 6 cylinder water cooled diesel and features 4 point telescopic hydraulic outriggers, a ZF-AS-Tronic mechanical transmission with automatic gear shifting, a 2 stage transfer case and hydro-pneumatic suspension with levelling adjustment.
The 5-section telescopic boom is powered by a 90kW Mercedes-Benz 4 cylinder water cooled diesel engine and controlled via a three circuit hydraulic system. Superstructure control is via 2 joy-stick electrical levers for simultaneous operation with an all-steel panoramic cab offering a tiltable cockpit, hydraulically cushioned adjustable seat and an engine independent hot-water heater. Counterweights are 12.5 tonne divisible, and can be assembled/disassembled via hydraulic cylinder controls from the cab.
Safety devices include a Load Moment Device (LMD, working area limiter, hoist limit and lower limit switch, drum turn indicator and holding valves on hydraulic cylinders.
