Tadano GT 550E Finds New Mining Home In West
Abesque Engineering and Construction Ltd (AEC) has put to work a new Tadano GT 550E truck crane supplied and delivered by Australia's premier crane specialist, James Equipment.

The new hydraulic truck crane is now based at the Abesque Lake Cowell Gold Project (NSW) where AEC are currently carrying out major construction works and will undertake a broad array of duties within the mining sector.

Having forged a strong reputation in Western Australia 's engineering and mining industry for over 15 years, AEC has recently added engineering and project management capabilities to their service list. Today, AEC offer expertise in the areas of Engineering Design, Feasability Studies, Project Management, Fabrication and Construction.

In the past, AEC has relied on other crane brands including Kato, BHB and P&H to manage all their crane needs. Managing Director of AEC Greg McRostie said that when it came time to add a new crane to their existing fleet, the decision was straightforward.

“We chose the Tadano GT 550E for our work in the mining sector because of the higher levels of general specifications, the strength of the Tadano name, and James Equipment could deliver it to us on schedule,” Greg McRostie said.

“We have had past experience with a wide range of crane brands and were very happy with the reputation and outright value that the Tadano GT550E represented.”

The Tadano GT550E hydraulic truck crane is arguably the finest crane in this category available in the world today. Weighing in at 39.8tonne, the GT 550E hydraulic truck crane has a boom extension from 11.1m to 42m and is capable of lifting up to 55t in weight. The 2-staged extension type jib length extends from 9.0m to 14.6m while boom elevation from -20° to 80° is achieved in just 68 seconds.

The Nissan carrier runs a powerful, yet economical 6 cylinder, 256kw, water cooled, direct injection, turbo charged engine putting out 1460nm of torque. The turning circle of the carrier is impressive and, when travelling long distances between mining projects, the top end speed of the 85 kph is a real plus for the AEC projects.

“A big advantage of AEC's new Tadano GT 550E is that it is road legal and has no problems being road registered,” said Peter Shelton of James Equipment.

“The long distances covered between mining projects require a crane that can not only handle the rugged environments of mineral production mines but also exhibit impeccable road manners en route. The Tadano GT550E delivers on all counts.”

Although not having dealt with James Equipment in the past, Greg McRostie was impressed with their product range and level of customer service offered by the company.

James Equipment is the exclusive Australian distributor of the award winning rang e of new Tadano Cranes, operating a network of sport sales and service offices in key locations, including the recently established Perth office.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry right across Australia , Melbourne-based James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
