Tadano Supports Alfasi Group Arts Project
Tadano is demonstrating its artistic credentials with a key Australian and international player in construction and engineering of major steel-based projects- The Alfasi Group.

A new 55 tonne Tadano GT-550E hydraulic truck crane, delivered by renowned crane retailer James Equipment, now joins two incumbent Tadano rough terrain cranes serving at the Alfasi Group base in Dandenong South with a third larger Tadano rough terrain crane due mid 2007.

Director of The Alfasi Group Mr Saar Alfasi had been looking to add a larger road travelling crane to keep up with an expanding business and support the existing 25 and 35 tonne rough terrain cranes already in service.

“We had been without a crane in the 50 tonne category and had spent a considerable amount of money in hiring these cranes or getting by with smaller cranes. Now the 55 tonne crane in our fleet will add to the efficiency of our sites and what we are able to offer our clients” said Mr Alfasi.

“Initially we were looking to all terrain crane options from brands such as Grove and Demag before we spoke with Peter Shelton at James Equipment. Already having two Tadano cranes, we were very comfortable with the brand

and the GT-550E hydraulic truck crane presented a good value package with the lift capability along with being road registrable.”

Operating throughout Australia and internationally in countries including Singapore and Qatar, the Alfasi Group encompasses a specialised large steel construction division, a structural steel shop drafting business and access equipment hire business. The new Tadano recruit will be based out from Alfasi Equipment Hire and is expected to serve the Alfasi Steel Constructions Company on large scale steel erection projects.

“Our new 55 tonne Tadano is ideal for steel erection projects and is currently based in Melbourne working on the new Bovis Lend Lease Yarra Arts Project,” said Mr Alfasi

“The Yarra Arts Project will involve construction of two new architectural buildings for the Melbourne Theatre Company and the Melbourne Recital Centre. The lifting capacity, driveability and manoeuvrability of the new Tadano truck crane will suit this project well.”

The Alfasi Group has a strong reputation and played a significant role in the development of a range of complex architectural steel structures including the Telstra Dome, Spencer Street Station, BHP Billiton Global Headquarters, MCG Northern Stand and Bangkok’s second International Airport. The Alfasi Group comprises 4 companies covering steel fabrication and erection, shop detailing, equipment hire and its overseas steel and facade division with 2 facilities in Dandenong, Victoria and a regional office in Singapore.

Quickly becoming Australia’s most popular new hydraulic truck crane, the new Tadano GT-550E features reliable Japanese engineering, a 5-stage 42m main boom with 14.6m fly jib, Nissan 4 axle carrier with Euro 2 compliant 6 cylinder turbo diesel engine and a top road speed of 83 kph. Available in left or right hand drive, the GT-550E is an operators dream with joystick operated upper cabin, 8 stage gearbox and air conditioned comfort.

Now adorning the striking white marque of The Alfasi Group signage, the new Tadano GT-550E has a dynamic baptism ahead giving several iconic Melbourne landmarks a new makeover.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry with locations Australia wide, James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
