Beginning in 1997, Wetback Construction has built a reputation supporting a broad range of large projects in the mining, oil resources and building sectors. Company Director, Zak Visic, has just taken delivery of his new hydraulic truck crane and believes his new addition will handle the heat and the travel.
“The Tadano name has a good reputation for reliability which is a big strength when working and travelling in remote areas,” said Zak Visic.
“We needed a crane that was road registrable and capable of travelling large distances so highway speed and handling played a big part in our decision.”
The current crane line-up at Wetback Construction consists of a 20 tonne Kato rough-terrain crane, a MAC 14, 15 and 20 tonne AT Franna Cranes and the new Tadano GT-550E hydraulic truck crane.
Heralding a new era for truck crane performance world wide, the Tadano GT- 550E brings together decades of crane innovation with durable Japanese
engineering and build quality. Dependable and user friendly operation also make the GT-550E ideal for both wet and dry hire rental applications.
Weighing in at less than 40 tonne, the Tadano GT-550E punches well above its weight with a 55 tonne lifting capacity and extendable boom spanning from 11.1m to 42m in length. Boom elevation from -20° to 80° is reached in only 68 seconds.
The legendary Nissan carrier utilised on the new Tadano GT-550E is capable of highway speeds up to 83kph thanks to a powerful, yet economical 6 cylinder, direct injection, turbo-charged diesel engine delivering 256kW of power and a massive 1460Nm of torque.
“The Tadano is well suited to the immense amount of roadway we need to cover to service our big projects in the mining and building industry,” explained Zac Visic.
“Faster travelling time means a huge saving in time and money for both Wetback and our clients. The Tadano is a good crane and it should serve us well.”
