Proudly displaying the vivid green and blue corporate colours of Boom Logistics, the new GT-550E exemplifies the very best of Japanese engineering. Selection by one of Australia’s largest lifting solutions company is a testament to the quality of Tadano’s flagship truck crane across the globe.
The new Tadano GT-550E compliments an existing line-up of 25, 30, 50 and 70 tonne Tadano cranes at the Boom Logistics Hunter Valley base. Set to undertake a broad range of lifting requirements, the new 55 tonne recruit will be kept very busy amid the resources and construction sectors.
“Our Tadano GT-550E will spend the majority of its time between the booming local construction industry and down at the port in coal dispatch and coal loading facilities,” said Stephen Lawton, Service Manager for Hunter Valley Division.
“The new Tadano crane has an impressive duty chart and works well for what we need. When compared to other brands, the Tadano GT-550E is the pick of them. The basic carrier design is easy to service and maintain.”
Boom Logistics was formed in December 2000 through the amalgamation of long term participants in the Australian crane hire industry. Long standing New South Wales company Bowers Cranes became a major crane contributor to the Boom Logistics Hunter Valley Division with its acquisition in October 2004.
“We have been using Tadano cranes for 16 years and already have a dozen Tadano cranes working on our team in the Valley,” said Stephen Lawton.
“Our company has dealt with James Equipment parts supply service for a number of years. When it came time to purchase our new crane, I dealt with James Equipment in Victoria to source the new Tadano.”
Versatility, economic performance and impressive 83kph top speed are only some of the reasons why the Tadano GT-550E is steadily becoming Australia’s best selling Hydraulic Truck Crane. The 39.8 tonne crane belies its 55 tonne lifting capacity from a 42m main boom and 14.6m 2-staged boom extension fly jib.
Boom elevation from -2° to 80° is achieved in 68 seconds while H-type outriggers are hydraulically operated independently from either side of the carrier. The Nissan carrier engine is a Japanese engineered turbocharged powerhouse producing 1460Nm of torque and 257kW of power from a 12.5litre, direct-injection 6 cylinder diesel.
Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry right across Australia, Melbourne-based James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
