Brien’s Cranes Flying Solo with Tadano
James Equipment has provided the perfect Tadano platform for Brien’s Cranes to begin a wet-hire crane rental service in Sydney’s south west.

Launched in February this year, Brien’s Cranes is the working project of Shane Brien who recently left a Sydney based crane company after 8 1/2 years to develop a niche of his own.

“I spent 8 1/2 years working for another Sydney based crane company and I knew it was the right time to branch out and start on my own,” said Brien’s Cranes Director Shane Brien.

“All my crane experience has been with Tadano cranes and I wanted to start my business with a crane brand I was familiar with. The Tadano brand has been very reliable for me in the past and James Equipment had the type of crane I was looking for.”

Brien’s Cranes’ new addition, a fully refurbished 1993 model Tadano TL-250M-4 hydraulic truck crane, is currently servicing the construction needs of several residential contracts and hopes to move into steel erection projects as the reputation builds. At the current rate of local development, Brien’s Cranes could be welcoming another Tadano model later this year.

“The Tadano cranes I have worked with in the past are smooth and easy to operate. They have proven to be very reliable,” said Shane Brien.

The Tadano TL-250M-4 truck crane operates on a Nissan 4 axle carrier featuring a Nissan V8 diesel engine and a six speed gearbox. The hydraulic crane works a 33m main boom with a 14.5m under slung fly jib with three offsets and 2 winches. Both the crane and carrier are air conditioned.

Having not dealt with James Equipment in the past, Shane Brien looked to the Plant Equipment magazine to source his first crane. Following a heavy investment of magazine and internet homework, the right crane came up at James Equipment.

“The service and product range of James Equipment was very good and the quality of the refurbishment is excellent,” said Shane Brien.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry right across Australia, Melbourne-based James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
