Delivered by crane specialist James Equipment, the 220 tonne giant is the flagship model in the Tadano All-Terrain range and joins two recently delivered new Tadano GT-550E cranes- one of which was also the first GT-550E delivered down under. The Hinspeter Cranes fleet also has two compact Tadano rough-terrain cranes delivered by James Equipment – a TR-200M-4 and a TR-100M.
The continual expansion at Hinspeter Cranes is a strong reflection of the ongoing boom throughout Queensland’s crane industry. With nine All-Terrain cranes from Liebherr and Demag already working in the Hinspeter hire fleet, the first and largest All-Terrain Tadano recruit had big expectations to meet.
“We needed another crane to keep up with the demand in our local area so I decided to try out the new Tadano Faun range of All-Terrain cranes,” said Greg Hinspeter.
“Our purchase decision was based on the performance, hand in hand capability and versatility of the ATF 220G-5. The length of boom and compact nature of the design was also a selling point. The only other All-Terrain crane
which came close to the Tadano was a Grove but this 220 tonne model did not suit our specifications.”
Local refinery maintenance projects have made up the bulk of the work for the new Hinspeter Tadano, but the new 220 tonne crane will play out a more general lifting role at the Currajong based crane hire business.
“The feedback so far from the drivers has been excellent,” said Greg Hinspeter.
“Even though the European inspired layout will take us a little while to get used to, the ATF 220G-5 is already proving to be a very user friendly machine. Our drivers are saying it is very good to operate.”
At a glance, the lifting credentials of the Tadano ATF 220G-5 All-Terrain crane are impressive. The 7-stage, 68m boom is powered by a Mercedes Benz 6 cylinder engine, able to lift up to 220 tonne and controlled by 2 electric joystick levers for simultaneous operation.
The 10x8 drive carrier features a Mercedes Benz 8 cylinder, water cooled diesel engine delivering 390kW and a staggering 2400Nm of torque plus dual control 4 point hydraulic outriggers and ZF-AS-Tronic automatic transmission.
