Delivered by Australia’s specialist crane retailer James Equipment, the new 80 tonne powerhouse was a welcome sight for Pacific Coast Group Director George Clarke taking delivery of the all-terrain crane on an already special occasion.
“Our new crane was delivered on my birthday and had quite an initiation with a 40 tonne lifting project soon after,” said George Clarke.
“The new all-terrain is our first Tadano crane and will work alongside our existing 45 tonne Kato. The 80 tonne Tadano is a universal size and was chosen for its reach capability and impressive lift chart.”
Pacific Coast Group began serving the heavy construction needs of industry back in 1984 building a commanding reputation in steel, aluminium and stainless steel fabrication. Major general engineering and structural steel projects for the sugar industry, power stations, mines and processing plants ensued to give the Pacific Coast Group an enviable track record today for service, proficiency, safety and versatility.
The division of companies within the Pacific Coast Group also covers in-house CAD design engineering, shutdowns and maintenance contracting plus general ship repairs, overhaul and re-fit specialists.
With little time between jobs, the ATF80-4 is currently working on a maintenance job at a Nickel mine in Townsville.
“The extra reach of the Tadano is a real plus on the 30m tall silos at the mine,” said George Clarke.
“Our drivers are already giving good feedback. The crane certainly arrives with good credentials boasting the Crane of the Year sticker on the front. I have known Chalky White and Peter Shelton from James Equipment for a long time and was confident in their recommendation of the new All-Terrain range from Tadano.”
Such is the calibre of Tadano’s all-terrain range that two models, including the Tadano ATF80-4, took home Crane of the Year accolades when released in 2005. Announced by Germany’s premier crane and heavy transport magazine, Kran & Schwertransport, the Tadano ATF 80-4 was judged winner of its 4-Axle crane class.
The brilliance of Japanese and German engineering unite within the Tadano ATF80-4 with a 125kW Mercedes-Benz 4 cylinder water cooled EPA 2 diesel engine powering the 6 section box type 48.5m boom onboard the torsion-resistant superstructure cab. Strength defines the ATF carrier with ZF-AS-Tronic 14 gear transmission, 4 point hydraulic outriggers, Hydro-pneumatic levelling suspension all powered by a 315kW 6 cylinder Mercedes-Benz diesel engine.
Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry with locations right across Australia, James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
