Perna Engineering Invest in Tadano
The family behind Perna Engineering has welcomed a new addition to their versatile construction company with James Equipment delivering a new Tadano GT-550E hydraulic truck crane.

Set to work alongside an older, yet ever reliable 18 year old Tadano truck crane, the new 55 tonne Tadano GT-550E was an easy choice for the Perna team who were already confident in the performance of their old workhorse.

“Our older Tadano is still going strong after 18 years and its reliability really helped us form a decision on our new purchase,” said Perna Engineering’s Daniel Perna.

“We had originally planned to replace the old 30 tonne Tadano with a newer equivalent. However, with our new 55 tonne Tadano onboard, we have a greater lifting capacity covering a range of lifting applications.”

Perna Engineering has been servicing the steel erection and crane hire needs of metropolitan Perth since 1985. Formerly operating under A & T Fabrications, the family run business is based out of a modern workshop and office complex in Bibra Lake.

Perna Engineering encompasses both a design, fabrication and steel erection company and a crane hire business, Perna Crane Hire. With an on-site crew at the ready and 2 cranes at their disposal, Perna Engineering offers a complete construction service with the new Tadano crane opening up even bigger project options.

“The GT-550E is the ideal size for our needs and very user friendly to operate,” said Daniel Perna.

“Our skilled drivers aren’t the most nimble guys and can easily get in and out of the new Tadano cabin. The crane is very simple to drive and doesn’t require a fleet of people should a tyre blow out occur- it’s as user friendly as our smaller 30 tonne crane.”

Quickly becoming the model of choice for hydraulic truck crane solutions, the Tadano GT-550E offers an outstanding lift chart capacity, versatile operation and high quality Japanese engineering. The 55 tonne lifting machine has a top road speed of 83kph from the 257kW Nissan Diesel engine.

The crane superstructure boasts a maximum length 42m boom and a 2-stage 14.6m jib able to elevate the boom from -2° to 80 in 68° seconds. Available in left hand drive, the cabin features full joystick control, air conditioning and an 8-speed gearbox.

Strategically placed to service a broad range of local Perth construction projects, the team at Perna Engineering are bracing themselves for the expectant work involved in the recently approved Port Coogee urban development project and the continual expansion of the Cockburn industrial estate.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry with locations right across Australia, James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
