The new 55 tonne Tadano hydraulic truck crane becomes the United Group Resources’ third Tadano amid an extensive crane line-up and was put straight to work amid the resources sector in the southwest of Western Australia.

Based at United Group Resources’ Plant and Equipment facility at Kwinana in Western Australia, the new Tadano GT-550E now compliments two existing 50 tonne Tadano cranes. The new 55 tonne recruit was chosen because of its predecessor’s reliability and performance.
“We have had two 50 tonne Tadano cranes working for United Group for the last nine years and have been very happy with their performance,” said United Group Resources National Plant Manager Bill Eaton.
“The new Tadano crane will be used on our own site along with undertaking work amid a broad range of our resources projects.”
Regarded as one of the most versatile hydraulic truck cranes on the market, the Tadano GT-550E is making quite an impression across Australia from the booming resources sector to maintenance and construction industries.
Powered by a state-of-the-art Nissan diesel carrier engine, the Tadano GT-550E features a 42m, 5-section, full power telescoping boom capable of lifting 55 tonne and elevating from -2° to 80° in 68 seconds. Producing 257kw of power and 1460Nm of torque, the Euro 2 six cylinder Nissan diesel carrier can reach a top highway speed in excess of 83kph and boasts the latest crane technology from Japan’s most successful crane manufacturer.
United Group Resources has an established crane background in dealing with notable brands including P&H, Grove and Hitachi. Principally using Franna type cranes, United Group Resources looked to Rob Hunter at James Equipment’s Western Australia branch to supply the new Tadano GT-550E hydraulic truck crane.
