James Equipment Get Versatile Cranes Mobile
Australia’s most respected crane specialist, James Equipment, has provided the impetus for Versatile Cranes’ new start in the crane industry by supplying a fully refurbished Kato crane for the fledgling mobile crane contractor.

Brad Wilson, owner of Queensland-based Versatile Cranes, has been working in the crane industry for over 11 years. Approximately 2 years ago, Brad Wilson made the move out of a crane allocation management position of 9 years standing and became a crane driver for Sydney Cranes.

So impressed by the sea change from office chair to drivers seat, Brad Wilson began entertaining the idea of owning and operating his own crane.

“I mentioned the idea of owning my own crane one day and instantly I had support from all my team,” said Brad. “They actively encouraged me to start my own contracting business.”

“The owner of Sydney Cranes recommended I speak to Keven Coubrough from James Equipment. The service that I received from Keven was outstanding. The crane that I wanted came in under my budget too.”

The Kato KR20H-III 1989 model crane was sourced from stock at James Equipment and underwent a complete refurbishment process in preparation for registration. Brad Wilson took delivery of the crane on a Sunday, registered the vehicle the following Monday, and at the time of interview on Thursday he had already chalked up 30 operating hours in the clock.

“Even when my new business was just a few days old, I was rapidly booked solid for the upcoming three weeks. And the crane keeps attracting so much attention. Even though this Kato crane is second hand, I keep getting asked whether it is brand new because the James Equipment refurbishment process is so thorough,” said Brad Wilson.

“Brendan James took care of the whole process for me to make sure the crane was in the best condition possible. The new paint work is first-rate and I have been very well looked after in every way. I am an extremely happy customer.”

The refurbished Kato KR20 will principally be working under contract for Eagle Cranes in Moorland, Queensland. Brad Wilson is impressed with the fast road speed of his crane, the smooth operation of the jib and anticipates working mostly within the domestic home market along with servicing the construction industry near his Queensland home.

Establishing a solid reputation over 15 years, James Equipment has a broad knowledge base of crane engineering and a large network of international suppliers to draw upon. Serving the crane industry right across Australia, Melbourne-based James Equipment has an excellent range of used cranes in stock from international manufacturers including Demag, Kato, Liebherr, and Kobelco.
