Prominent Melbourne boating manufacturer, Streaker Boats, has officially taken the wraps of their new 6.35 Commander bluewater fishing boat. The much anticipated new model has already impressed loyal Streaker Boat customers at a recent launch event with a number of 6.35 Commander’s sold on the night.
The 6.35 Commander is the new kid on the block and now the largest member of the Streaker Boats family. Built entirely on a new hull and deck design, the 6.35m fishing platform is every bit a Streaker boat with the superb finish, a huge list of standard inclusions and revered Streaker boating pedigree.
Streaker Boats’ proven hull design formula gives the 6.35 Commander exceptional sea going characteristics. The deep vee and flared bow delivers smooth performance while the high cockpit sides and broad cabin profile opens up an enormous forward space for overnight boating.
“We’re exceptionally proud of our biggest boating project so far,” said Streaker Boats’ Co-Director Paul Savage.
“Our customers are as demanding on their Streaker boats as we are so we’ve held nothing back. The hull is a true 6.35m in length with a deep cockpit and very high sides. The sense of space and security inside this boat is really amazing and it’s exactly what our customers have been asking for.”
Powering the high performance 6.35m hull is easy with either 2-stroke or 4-stroke outboard power up to 225hp. Coupled with the standard hydraulic steering and trim tabs, the well balanced Commander makes light work of any swell. The huge 228 litre underfloor fuel tank delivers an awesome cruising range.
If battling big fish off the shelf is the ideal way to spend the weekend, then the 6.35 Commander offers the perfect stage. The wide and uncluttered cockpit provides a clean work area from which to set lines, prepare bait or gear up to tackle the big one.
The Streaker 6.35 Commander is stacked with fishing equipment including two live bait tanks, one of which is plumbed, Streaker removable bait board and berley bucket plus a set of custom outriggers. Managing the artillery of fishing rods is also easy thanks to the six stainless steel flush-mount rod holders, coaming rod storage and folding stainless steel rocket launcher.
Adorned with a full array of electrics, digital gauges and deluxe seating, the helm on the 6.35 Commander is designed for even the most fastidious of skippers. A combination sounder/GPS and marine CD stereo system line the dash console with multi-function digital gauge instruments and a waterproof switch panel overseeing the electrics.
Find a quiet cove to dock, drop anchor with the Maxwell electric anchor winch and the 6.35 Commander becomes a comfortable overnighter. The cavernous forward cabin with sleek fibreglass liner, v-berth bunk and carpeted floor provides all the space and comfort needed for roomy accommodation.
Extended overnight cruising is made even more appealing with onboard galley at the ready including a single burner stove and a handy sink which is plumbed to a 55 litre freshwater tank. Fluoro interior and cabin lights compliment the overhead mounted spot lights to push the angling session well beyond sundown.
“We want our family fishing boats to be kitted out with all the essentials when they leave our showroom,” said Paul Savage.
“So instead of our customers having to organise all the boating extras, we’ve done it all for them. The 6.35m Commander is fitted out with everything a fishing group needs from the helm electrics and fishing equipment to the trim tabs and hydraulic steering. It’s simply a matter of packing a lunch and away you go.”
