Chivers Marine Appointed Yamaha Dealer
The long established and highly respected dealership of Chivers Marine in Bibra Lake (WA), has taken a further step forward having just been appointed as a fully fledged Yamaha Outboards and Yamaha WaveRunner dealer.
“When we were approached by Yamaha and offered the opportunity to become an authorised Yamaha dealer, we didn’t think twice about it,” said Peter Harburn, Operations Manager for Chivers Marine.
“Yamaha has the full range of two-stroke and four-stroke outboards, plus great service and of course the WaveRunners too. This is a wonderful opportunity not only for Chivers Marine customers, but for Yamaha also, to now be associated with the strongest dealership in the Fremantle area.”
Dealership principal Laurie Chivers has been producing and selling boats since 1958. There is no doubt that Chivers Marine is the longest serving and best known dealer in the Fremantle and southern suburbs of Perth regions.
Today Chivers Marine build their own range of plate aluminium boats, the Chivers Shark brand, and also sell Savage aluminium boats, Northshore fibreglass boats along with Rinker boats from the USA.
“In order to take on the Yamaha brand we dropped an alternative brand of outboards to ensure that our focus is on Yamaha,” Peter Harburn said. “We rate the Yamaha brand name and the product range very highly and we want to project this high regard to our customer base.”
Until recently, the Yamaha brand was handled by an alternative dealer which closed its marine retail business. This created the opportunity for Yamaha to make an approach to Chivers Marine.
“Winning the confidence of the management team at Chivers Marine is quite a coup for Yamaha,” said Brett Hampson, National Sales and Marketing Manager of Yamaha Outboards.
“We have the upmost respect for Chivers Marine and have admired their business for quite some time. When circumstances allowed us to make a formal approach, we had no hesitation in sitting down with the team and talking to them about becoming a Yamaha dealer.”

Chivers Marine operates from a modern showroom with a large number of boats also on display in the display yard. The service department is one of the largest and most expansive in WA.
In addition to the Yamaha outboards, Chivers Marine is also an authorised agent for Yamaha Marine Insurance (YMI) and Yamaha Motor Finance (YMF).
Yamaha outboards are available through an Australia-wide network of authorised Yamaha outboard dealers. All Yamaha 4-stroke outboards are supported with a full 4-year manufacturer’s warranty and all 2-stroke outboards are backed by a 3 year warranty – standard conditions apply.
