Yamaha's new F300 - V8 4-Stroke Gives Yamaha a Knockout 1-2
Protection Plus

Yamaha has unveiled a second V8 4-stroke outboard to join the ground breaking 350 horsepower V8 F350 outboard.  Perfectly suited to high torque marine engine applications, the new F300 is now available in Australia through Yamaha’s extensive dealer network.

Built on the same highly sophisticated 5.3 litre 60° 32 Valve DOHC V8 engine, the new F300 has been developed specifically for single or twin engine applications and caters to an Australian boat market that may not be rated to 350HP.

Yamaha’s latest V8 outboard edition follows in the footsteps of the F350 which has been a tearaway success in the Australian and world market since its release mid 2007. Outscoring sterndrive engine equivalents in power to weight performance, Yamaha’s V8 outboard has found favour with both local and imported boat brands.

“The new F300 is ideal for vessels that require a lot of thrust but not all the horsepower of the F350,” said Brett Hampson, National Sales and Marketing Manager for Marine Products at Yamaha Motor Australia.

“We believe there is a market in Australia where larger offshore vessels are demanding a high torque engine without excessive power or weight. Inboard petrol sterndrive engines cannot compete with the technology used in our new V8 and with two horsepower options now on the table, outboard power competition has just stepped up another gear.”

Yamaha’s latest V8 F300 employs all the sophistication of its bigger F350 brother including Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection system, Variable Camshaft Timing, Single Electronic Throttle Control Valve and Dual In-Bank Exhaust. Reliability is again a key design criteria with Yamaha engineers building a power plant specifically for the offshore environment.

Like the Yamaha F350, the new F300 has inherent durability with ionic combustion sensors that monitor and adjust spark timing to regulate combustion levels and a dimpled outer cylinder sleeve for reduced oil consumption plus new generation head gaskets. To survive the rigors of the saltwater environment Yamaha also engineered the Corrosion Protection System with additional sacrificial anodes and an improved internal paint process.

The new Yamaha  V8 engines also score the best rating (of any brand) in the environmental sector, being the first engine in the world to achieve an emission figure of under 10g/kw-hr of HC & NOX which is the output the OEDA star rating system is based upon.

Yamaha outboards are available through an Australia-wide network of authorised Yamaha outboard dealers.  All Yamaha outboard models are fully backed by a comprehensive two-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Yamaha will extend the warranty to 3 years on 2-Stroke and 4 years on 4-Stroke provided the engine is serviced by an authorised Yamaha dealer.
