Streaker Celebrates 10 Year Milestone
Prominent Melbourne marine retailer, Streaker Boats, is celebrating a ten year anniversary. It was in 1999 that the company relocated from a tiny retail shop in an industrial part of Bayswater to their current modern undercover, main road show room.
While Streaker Boats had been appointed a Yamaha dealer in 1993, brothers Leon and Paul Savage were committed to new, state-of-the-art premises which were opened to the public in November 1999.
“While we built our own Streaker brand boats, all powered by Yamaha, and had a line of aluminium boats as well, we were never happy servicing our customers from the tiny showroom alongside the Streaker factory,” Leon Savage said.
So with plenty of support and encouragement from Yamaha, the Streaker team set about designing and constructing a purpose built showroom, one that now celebrates ten years of service.
“The Streaker showroom allows us to professionally present our current range of boating products,” Leon Savage said. “We have one of the largest undercover marine showrooms in Melbourne and we give customers the opportunity to inspect and purchase boats in a comfortable and inviting environment.”
Such has been the positive impact on the boating public that in 2003, Streaker received the Platinum dealership status from Yamaha. At the time, Streaker was the only Melbourne Platinum dealership, an accolade voted for by customers and based on an independent survey taken by Yamaha after registering a new Yamaha product.
“Streaker really set the benchmark for other dealers,” said Yamaha’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Brett Hampson.
“Streaker continues to be a model dealership, one which we frequently show to our business partners as they continue to do such a wonderful job. The showroom is very impressive and even after ten years of operation, it continues to be a one of the best in not only Victoria but Australia.”

From Leon Savage’s perspective the move to the showroom has been a wonderful success.

Yamaha outboards are available through an Australia-wide network of authorised Yamaha outboard dealers. All Yamaha outboard models are fully backed by a comprehensive two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Yamaha will extend the warranty to 3 years on 2-stroke, and 4 years on 4-stroke provided the engine is serviced by an authorised Yamaha dealer.
