Yanmar’s lightweight 4JH4E diesel engine has recently received an upgrade to become the more fuel efficient Yanmar 4JH4AE.

Delivering 53MPH (39.6kW) from the same compact 4-cylinder design, the recently unveiled 4JH4AE features a new direct fuel injection system and larger intake valves to increase performance and further reduce exhaust emissions.

Complimenting the direct fuel injectors, the new fuel injection pump provides higher injection pressure along with an electrical fuel feed pump for easy fuel system bleeding.

The 2.19L naturally aspirated 4-stroke 4JH4AE is fitted standard with a heat exchanger and is water cooled via a centrifugal water pump and rubber impeller sea water pump.

The intake valves on the cylinder head have also been enlarged for better combustion and more power. The engine’s harmonics have also been improved with a larger air intake silencer.

The standard 12 volt 80 Amp alternator easily powers all necessary DC power requirements with an factory supplied additional 60 Amp alternator also available.

Fully compliant with all the latest emissions regulations, the new Yanmar 4JH4AE meets the EPA Tier 2, EU and US 2006 standards.

The engine footprint and size of the 4JH4AE has not changed from the original 4JH4 engine meaning installation instructions remain the same. The engine without a gearbox arrives with a dry weight of 201kgs and is offered with a choice of marine transmissions or the well-proven SD50 sail drive gears/drives to suit a wide range of boating applications.

The 4JH4AE is also compatible and can be specified to incorporate the recently announced Yanmar KMG65E flywheel generator option. The revolutionary KMG65E is a compact flywheel generator system bolted in-between the bell housing and the gearbox or sail drive. The generator system is capable of either 3 or 6kva and provides an economical and efficient system for generation of AC power on board without substantial weight or space penalties.

Yanmar Marine diesel engines are respected around the world for their outstanding performance, compact design and unmatched dependability.
